Tetra Pak Printing Workshop
Saturday, 13th of June 2026
10.30am - 1pm
£30
Join us on Saturday 13th of June for a Tetra Pak printing morning with illustrator Esther Palandri.
Tetra Pak printing is a way of producing quick and low-cost prints similar to drypoints and etchings. Using recycled cartons as our plates, we score them with an etching needle or peel off the surface with a scalpel to create images. The plate is then inked up and run through the press. It is a versatile technique that lends itself well to experimentation.
During the session participants will learn the full process, produce their own Tetra Pak prints and take them home at the end of the workshop.
Open to all levels!

Kitchen Lithography Workshop
Saturday 20th of June 2026
10.30am - 1pm
£30
Join on Saturday 20th June and learn how to do Kitchen Lithography with artist Hannah Machover. Lithography is a traditional planographic printmaking technique that was invented by Johann Alois Senefelder in the 1790s, which utilises the principle that water and oil repel each other. It uses a greasy medium (litho pencil, oil pastels, fingertips etc!) to draw onto a special limestone. The stone is then exposed to various chemical processes to create a 'stencil' on its surface. The more recently coined Kitchen Lithography works with equivalent chemical processes and preparation but uses household materials, such as aluminium foil. Prints typically emerge with rich, gestural and inky marks.
During the session participants will learn the full process, and produce + print their own hand-drawn lithograph plate, taking home their prints at the end of the workshop.

Regent’s Park Etching Workshop
Wednesday 24th of June
10:00am - 6:00pm
£120 (15% concession available for students, under‑25s, and Universal Credit holders).
All levels welcome
Join us for a day long hard ground workshop and drawing picnic in Regent’s Park with artist Tom Houlihan.
Hard ground is a traditional etching technique. The ground (a waxy protective coating) is warmed and rolled into a thin film across a copper plate which shields the metal from acid everywhere except where the artist chooses to draw. The plate is then smoked, hardening the ground and turning it dark enough for marks to be easily visible.
Once the surface is prepared, a needle is used to draw, cutting through the ground to reveal the metal beneath. The exposed metal will react when the plate enters the acid bath. These revealed areas are “bitten,” forming lines or textures. A brief immersion will make delicate marks; a longer bite will produce deeper grooves.
After the plate is removed from the acid, the ground is stripped away entirely and the etched plate is ready to be inked and printed.
In the morning we’ll meet in Regent’s Park and begin with a guided drawing warm-up with artist Tom Houlihan. We’ll then draw directly on the prepared plates, using them as an extension of our sketchbooks.
After lunch we’ll head to the studio to etch and print our plates.
You will leave with a small edition of your prints and with an understanding of the hard ground etching process.
